Pittinger works in two different creative endeavors: painting and making lampwork beads and jewelry. She is a self-taught artist in both disciplines. Her paintings are abstract acrylics using collage techniques. She paints and draws on paper, rips and cuts it up and applies it to the canvas as she paints, thereby adding depth and a measure of the “found” image. With lampworking, she creates colorful glass beads and then makes them into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Lampworking is more of a traditional craft and a good counterpoint to painting, which is more intuitive. Pam has recently joined the Middle Street Gallery in Washington, Virginia.
