Heile’s love of this earth is expressed through her use of color and light. Her subjects include all she sees in a day inside and outside of her home, as well as intuitive dialogues in paint. Her relationship with the process of painting and her enjoyment of the process is lightening as she steps out of the way. She continues to paint outside directly from the landscape or inside from memory, drawings, photos, and intuition. She is pleased as a mother can be to have her son Arlen Sherwood showing his sculpture and prints (UVa BA08) at her studio on Tour weekend.
