The current focus of Matteo’s work is her “Landscape Project,” a multi-year search for unique views, where each state is represented by one or more oil sketches. A graduate of The George Washington University with BA and MA degrees in painting, art history, and museum education, the artist’s lifelong career as the Associate Curator of Education at the Corcoran Gallery of Art underscores her fascination with the American landscape, enhanced by 15 years in Rappahannock County. Jim Serbent will also be showing at Matteo’s studio on Tour weekend.
