Susan Dienelt

At her studio, Juba Mountain Pottery, Susan Dienelt (resume) makes functional clay pottery for use in the home. The pottery is stoneware fired to 2350 degrees, with salt introduced into the kiln during the firing. This technique creates distinctive decorative effects on the surface of the pots, with no two pots alike. They are food, dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. Dienelt’s training in design was at the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology and in pottery at Hinckley Pottery in Washington, D.C.
