Overview
RAAC hosts three “Soup and Soul” events each winter featuring local artists, musicians, writers, film makers, photographers, etc., who discuss their creative process and share work in progress. Each of the events is held in a private home, and includes a potluck dinner in addition to the artist’s presentation and discussion. The Committee plans, publicizes, and hosts these events. These are very popular, fascinating programs and this is really a fun committee!

Duties & responsibilities

  • Identify local residents who are willing to host Soup and Soul events and whose homes will accommodate 50 – 60 participants. The hosts provide a pot of soup as well their home – RAAC and the audience members provide everything else.
  • Identify local artists who are interested in sharing their work through a Soup and Soul evening, select three artists for each year’s series, and work with those individuals to plan their presentations.
  • Publicize the series.
  • Take reservations and collect ticket money prior to the events.
  • Make logistical arrangements for the events: chairs, beverages, plates/utensils, equipment for the speakers, etc.
  • Assist the evening of each event in welcoming guests, setting out food, cleaning up, etc.
