DESCRIPTION:Sentimental Value is a multi-layered Norwegian drama directed by Joachim Trier that earned the Oscar for Best International Feature Film\, a historic win for Norway following years of nominations. The movie follows an aging filmmaker embarking on what will likely be his final work. The making of the film involves a return to a family home he left decades earlier\, and a traumatic history during his own childhood. The superb acting by the women playing his estranged daughters make this a psychologically nuanced film\, whose brilliant ending affirms that art can reconcile and integrate all that history has left broken and damaged. Starring Stellan Skarsgård\, Renate Reinsve\, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning. \nThough the RAAC film is free\, donations are welcome to offset production costs. SUMMARY:Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band
DESCRIPTION:RAAC announces a special\, FREE concert Saturday\, June 27\, 7-9PM at Little Washington Theatre\, 291 Gay Street\, featuring The Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band\, a popular\, traditional bluegrass group based in Madison\, VA. The performance will be in honor of Rappahannock’s own\, celebrated photographer\, musician and RAAC founder Charlie Tompkins. This will be the final performance at Little Washington Theatre before closing for a year-long renovation. \nDark Hollow’s core lineup features: Paul Fincham (five-string banjo and vocals); Larry Haynes (guitar and vocals); Bob Cook (lead guitar and vocals); Buck Morris (mandolin and vocals); Steve Lamb (upright bass). Special guests will also perform. \nThere is no charge for this concert but due to expected interest we ask that you make a reservation by clicking here. \nThough the concert is free\, RAAC will be accepting donations for production and pending theater renovation costs.
