SUMMARY:Romeo and Juliet
DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge University American Stage Tour (CAST) returns to perform Romeo and Juliet at the Little Washington Theatre. This production of Romeo and Juliet takes place in a world very different from fair Verona. In a futuristic setting in the year 2123\, the rival houses of Capulet and Montague fight to survive and gain control over the territory. In the midst of such chaos and bloodshed is a tender love story that fights against the odds and shows the beauty that can be found in the most unlikely places and situations. It is a play that transcends geography and culture; a story that everyone knows\, and everyone can feel a part of. To fight for what you believe in\, whether right or not\, to die for what you believe in\, and for who you believe in\, is possibly one of the boldest and most intensely moving narratives ever told. \nStarting August 28\, advance tickets will be on Eventbrite (17.85 includes processing fee) or $20 at the door. SUMMARY:No Ordinary Person
DESCRIPTION:No Ordinary Person\, RAAC’s annual performance of autobiographical stories told by Rappahannock friends and neighbors\, will return to the Little Washington Theatre on June 16 (8 pm)\, June 17 (7:30 pm) and June 18 (3 pm). As it happens\, for the first time\, this year’s storytellers are all men. Willie Shanks has lived in Rappahannock all his life. He is one of four children\, and he has four children of his own. He works for the county as a waste management consultant at Flatwood recycling center. His story shares an experience he “hopes never to repeat.” \nCrispin Sartwell is a retiring but not shy philosophy professor and opinion writer who splits time between his home near Gettysburg and his mother Joyce Abell’s place down on Rock Mills Road. His is a story of childhood illness and life affirmation in old age. \nDavid Tatel and his wife Edie have lived near Rock Mills for 30 years. A federal judge in Washington DC\, David will talk about how he learned to work with his amazing German Shepherd guide dog\, Vixen. David is writing a memoir that will be published next year. \nTickets are $17.85 and can be purchased at Eventbrite. Tickets will be $20 at the door.
