No Ordinary Person

This year’s No Ordinary Person marked the 22nd anniversary of the perennially popular show devoted to true tales from Rappahannock storytellers. People from the community tell personal stories that range from the heartfelt to the hilarious.  Coached through the year in the art of storytelling, these individuals always draw sell-out crowds.

We’re always looking for new storytellers, so if you think you might have a story to tell, please contact us at nop@raac.org.

In June, 2022 our storytellers were Tina Falkenbury, a photographer who recounted her uprooted family and her search for a “home”; Beverly Jones, who learned early on how to make big changes in tiny steps; and Michael Dennis, who spoke about his struggle learning to read, his passion for books, and his search for meaning and beauty through the love of reading.

The performance was followed by a “talk back session,” where the storytellers answered questions about their stories, or what it was like to put together a story, how much work it involved, and more.

Stay tuned for information about our next No Ordinary Person performance!
