Derek Leebaert – Unlikely Heroes

Derek Leebaert will speak at the Rappahannock County Library Friday April 14 at 7:30PM. He will discuss his new book on FDR, and his team of innovators. He’ll also tell of his continuing adventure of looking deeply into the past and finding fresh insights. Leebaert sees history as a mix of tectonic economic and political forces, but he never underplays the role played by individuals, whose personalities and psychologies made things happen. His book Unlikely Heroes is a new look at FDR’s presidency and a fascinating probe into the dedicated and often lonely advisers who made “The New Deal” a reality. The program is free. The Library is located at 4 Library Road, Washington, VA 22747
