This film follows A Mexican cartel leader–played by Karla Sofia Gascón–who aims to disappear and transition into a woman with the help of a lawyer–played by Zoe Saldaña.

Among its numerous accolades, the film won Oscars for Best Supporting Actress (Saldaña) and for Best Original Song (“El Mal”), and Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Foreign Language Film. Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir, and Edgar Ramirez also appear in starring roles.
